Couscous

THE FRAGRANCE OF TRADITIONAL COUSCOUS.
THE EFFICIENCY OF MODERN SYSTEMS.

Couscous is a staple food of North Africa, Sardinia and Sicily. Today, it is enjoyed throughout Europe and the world thanks to its delicious flavour, ease of use, and simplicity of preparation.

Europe’s largest couscous producer manufactures every single grain in Italy. Their high-quality product is marketed under its own brand, the main Italian brands, and even foreign brands that export the product to North Africa - the home of couscous!

They use a system designed and implemented by Technosilos. It comprises a large storage section, with internal silos made from high-tenacity polyester yarn capable of loading directly from tanker trucks, allowing optimum storage at less cost.

The storage environment is climate controlled. Together with the permeability of the yarn fabric, it allows the semolina to retain the ideal temperature and moisture levels.

During the dilute intake phase of the pneumatic transport, vibrating screens sift the raw material before it is transferred directly to the presses without heating. Continuous dosage ensures the production cycle remains uninterrupted.

As the most delicate phase of the entire process, Technosilos technology comes into play with sophisticated and effective storage and finished product management.

A multiple-screen plansifter selects the finished product on the basis of its granulometry. Fine- and medium-grained couscous is sent to different destinations in dedicated storage silos.

A dense-phase pneumatic conveying system guarantees a homogeneous granulometry, dust-free product. By using low speeds and limiting the friction of the product in the lines, it guarantees the required fineness, monitoring each section of the tube.

Finally, conveyor belts automatically transfer the couscous from the storage silos to the packaging lines, where it is packaged for the destination market.

TECHNOSILOS GUARANTEES THE SMOOTH, SEAMLESS MANAGEMENT OF BOTH RAW MATERIALS AND FINISHED PRODUCTS.
